Overview
RIIHAN305D Operate a gantry or overhead crane covers the skills and knowledge required to safely plan, prepare for and operate gantry and overhead cranes in the resources and infrastructure industries. The unit includes pre-operational checks, safe load handling, operator maintenance and shutdown procedures across construction, mining, manufacturing and heavy industry environments.
This unit is drawn from the RII Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package. It applies to cranes with up to three powered movements (raise/lower, north/south travel and east/west travel) that do not incorporate a permanent cabin. It is delivered via blended learning, combining online pre-course theory with one day of face-to-face practical training and assessment at Forky Stick’s Rockhampton facility.
On successful completion, participants receive a Statement of Attainment for RIIHAN305D Operate a gantry or overhead crane from Forky Stick Training and Safety Consultants (RTO #45802).
Important licensing note: RIIHAN305D Operate a gantry or overhead crane does not result in a High Risk Work Licence (HRWL). A CB class High Risk Work Licence is needed to operate a bridge or gantry crane that is controlled from a permanent cabin or control station on the crane, or that is remotely controlled and has more than three powered operations. RIIHAN305D is not a CB licence course. Check the licensing requirements applicable to your specific crane and workplace before enrolling.
