Overview
CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry is the mandatory work health and safety training required before undertaking any construction work in Australia. Commonly known as the White Card, this unit covers personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements, hazard identification, risk control measures, emergency procedures, and the correct selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
General construction induction training is required before you carry out construction work. People visiting a site who won't be doing construction work are managed under that site's visitor arrangements. It is nationally recognised and valid in all states and territories. Once issued, the White Card does not expire provided the holder remains active in the construction industry.
On successful completion, participants receive a Statement of Attainment for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry. In Queensland, the White Card (general construction induction card) is issued by the approved training organisation after you successfully complete the training, not by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.
Licensing and regulatory information: Completion of this unit is a mandatory regulatory requirement under Queensland work health and safety legislation before undertaking construction work. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm current jurisdictional requirements.
Lost or damaged your card? You don't need to redo the training. Contact the training organisation that issued your card about a replacement.
